School officially begins on Monday (ugh), but my family decided to sneak in a short drive to downtown Seattle to visit Pike Place Market today. Luckily, it's winter and unlike the usual summer hours when we decide to pass by, the market wasn't jam-packed with tourists asking where they could find the first Starbucks store. So we were able to get through the few people and go to our favorite Pike Place stores (mostly food stops hehe).
ELLENOS
One of these stores is Ellenos, a small Greek yogurt stand right outside the main entrance. Their yogurt flavors are seasonal since they're made of real fruit, and you can tell that it's REAL. Though the flavors are like little parties in your mouth, the stand itself is fairly small (the shops are fairly crowded together). Once we got there, we quickly bought a whole tray of the Marion Berry Pie.
METSKER MAPS
The other shop that really stood out was this map store that my older sister introduced me to. They sell books, globes, and various geography-related items. I expected it to be this small place with a couple of world maps hung on the walls, but these people have all kinds of maps (I don't know why I wasn't expecting maps from a map store) from different eras and areas. You could find maps of 1800 Paris or of the moon's craters. Definitely the place for the geography buff in your family.
PIROSHKY PIROSHKY BAKERY
Lastly, my sisters and I visited a small Russian bakery that sold little pastries. I got a beef & cheese piroshki (yet I'd never even heard of piroshki before that moment) and it was so filling and warm and delicious and now I regret not buying more. I wish I was hungrier at that time so that I could've bought their sweeter items like their apple cinnamon roll or cream cheese vatrushka. Aagghh! And I had eaten the whole thing before I was able to take a photo of it, so here's a picture of the tiny bag the pastry comes in.
