A QUICK LOOK AT ART...

-IT'S BEEN A WHILE-

Having bought the wrong Christmas present for my brother-in-law, I found myself needing to make a  quick trip to Pike's Place to make a return. But while Alex and I were on our way back, we realized it was the first Thursday of the month, which means free entry into the Seattle Art Museum! It's been a while since I last visited a museum, and though this one is no MoMA, I was still excited that I'd have the opportunity to see a couple of paintings and sculptures.

I'm not quite the type to criticize artwork, and I never seem to understand the secret "deep" meaning in a piece, but I have been to a number of museums on the east coast, and I can at least appreciate a work of art. At SAM, they seemed to incorporate a little bit of everything: Islamic, Native American, Modern, and they've currently got an impressionist exhibit going on.

Though Alex and I had no clue what some of the sculptures were supposed to represent, and I found myself wordlessly nodding at a piece of minimalist, modern painting consisting of a simple three squares, I was happy I that we were able to visit and play pretend art-critic.
