It's not every day that I get to go hiking. But if I did go hiking, maybe I wouldn't be so out of shape...
For the 22nd of the month, I think it's appropriate to post about a relatively recent hiking trip to Lake 22! I don't often hike, but one weekend my family was feeling particularly spontaneous and very Pacific-Northwest, so we headed north to Granite Falls and laced up our hiking shoes.
It wasn't long before we realized that we weren't the most prepared bunch. Though considered an 'easy' trail, we found snow as we reached higher up the mountain, and our shoes were made for regular, earthy terrain. Admittedly, I found myself afraid of losing my footing and falling off a cliff. Thankfully, with the help of a couple hiking sticks, we made it alright.
The view made the struggles (and the sore legs!) worth it in the end. Driving along the highway and seeing the mountains is one thing, but to see them closer up and hiking up one is another.
