When it comes to skincare, I like to keep it very simple. I own a bunch of makeup brushes, eyeshadow colors, and lipsticks, but if you check my bathroom drawer, you won't be finding a lot of skincare products. I can't emphasize enough how important it is to maintain good skin, but I've never felt that I had to go out and buy tons of fancy products that my skin will end up relying on. Plus, with the summer months coming up, I've found that less is more.
-BASIC STEPS-
Sticking to the basics, I stick with three steps each day when it comes to skincare: cleanse, soap/wash, moisturize. At most, I spend ten minutes a day paying attention to my skin (besides makeup). This is enough for me, and while others may claim that a little more time could be helpful, I just never found it essential to my routine. In a little more detail, I focus on
- 1) Removing makeup and making sure I've cleaned it thoroughly with wipes
- 2) Washing my face to remove leftover oils, dirt, or makeup
- 3) Replenishing healthy oils and moisture using a facial lotion
Occasionally, I'll throw in a face mask during the week for added moisture when my skin is feeling particularly dull. But in general, I use whatever makeup/cleansing wipes to remove makeup before I take a shower. I pick these up from Marshalls or Costco, depending on what store I visited more recently. Then I use a Clinique Facial Soap designed for dry skin, which is fairly mild. I don't find it particularly magical, but it does a good job of washing away impurities.
After washing my face, I've been sticking to my trusty drugstore moisturizer lately (since my Imperialis from Lush ran out). It hydrates without feeling greasy or leaving a weird residue/smell on my face. Do you have any recommendations for skincare products?
