SUMMER IN SWING

My summer after freshman year is officially 1/4 over with, and I haven't really been posting lately on Instagram, but it's because I had decided to take the past two weeks to really relax and take a step back from social media, while also re-evaluating/planning this blog and personal projects. I have to admit, this summer did not go as smoothly as planned. I was hoping for an internship, while working on my blog during my time off, and visiting every coffee shop in the Seattle area.

When none of these plans really took off, I decided to plan a digital portfolio of photography + HTML, so I can build experience with what I want to do in the future. I didn't have a heavy need to make money and work this summer, so I'm dedicating myself to developing skills and projects I can use in the future. I have a lot planned, and I'm excited to be working on what I came up with, so I'm sure you'll be hearing about it on this blog!

But even though I've been a bit disconnected with social media these past weeks (and this blog for the past week), I have to update you guys on a few things about what I did.

-ALEX'S BIRTHDAY-

JULY 2

It was Alex's birthday a few days ago, so he had a small birthday party at home (where we made Shrimp Tacos that were surprisingly pretty good). His brother came up with the idea that we should make a filter for his birthday, and I ended up designing a simple one that we could use for the day! Snapchat let's you make "On-Demand Geofilters" and if you want to find out more, check them out over here, since I got tons of questions about it. Overall, it was a really fun day, and I'm glad Alex decided to spend it with us.

-FOURTH OF JULY-

JULY 4 (duh)

I'd never seen the fireworks on the fourth before, so when Alex's family invited me to come to Bellevue Park with them, I couldn't turn down the offer. But true to Seattle's classic weather, it was a little drizzly during the day, and I didn't get to take a lot of pictures, but we spent a good chunk in the mall anyway. Still, it was lots of fun sitting in the grass with Aaron and Alex and trying to come up with games to play.

-ICE SKATE / DOUBLE DATE-

JULY 6

Last night I went on a double date with Staela and her boyfriend, and we decided to ice skate and grab some food. I was the only one in the group who had never gone before, so I expected to be hugging the wall the entire time and rolling on the ground. Thankfully, Alex kept me from falling and running into people, and I didn't end up on the ground once. By the end of the session, I was kind of getting the hang of it, but I still wouldn't trust myself in the center of the rink without anyone to clutch onto. It was really nice getting to know a new person, as well as to catch up with an old friend, so the night was well worth-it. I could even cross ice skating off my bucket list!
