The 16th was Staela's birthday, and brunch is the only way to properly celebrate. We drove down to Volunteer Park Cafe in Seattle, which was a homey and cozy little place that kind of reminded me of a family dining room. With its large communal table in the center of the room and casual photos on the walls, I felt like I was in somebody's home. In terms of food, this place has got everything covered-- I ordered some banana french toast, and Staela ordered something little more savory (quiche and tomato bisque).
Everyone around me seems to be turning 20, which is strange since time seems to be going so slowly (yet quickly at the same time?). Sometimes it feels like I'm running in place while time speeds past me, but after some reflection I realize that there really has been personal growth. With March being our birthday month, Staela and I had agreed to make this our month to focus on ourselves, our goals, and progress as a person.
It's difficult to see how you're growing and changing, especially when it appears that everyone seems to be progressing at a faster rate. Especially with social media, we see how people seem so satisfied with where they are and how they're completely happy. This isn't to say that they aren't, but Instagram and Snapchat make it so easy to convey those emotions and that image exclusively. What we've decided to focus on this month is to acknowledge how far we've come and to set goals to advance more. What better time than spring to start anew?
