SUMMER FAVORITES

For most of us, summer is coming to a close, and I can't leave this season without compiling a 'summer favorites' post. It's been of a more relaxed summer, and I've just been spending a lot of time at home and at work, but that doesn't stop me from exploring new items here and there. Everything in the photo above is amazing, but I particularly loved these new items that I've been trying out:

MOISTURIZE

Lotion is a staple in my everyday skincare routine, and when I ran out of Lush's Imperialis, I had to look for a replacement as soon as possible. I didn't have time to go to the mall, so I made it over to Target and grabbed this Shea Moisture facial lotion. It claims to brighten and tone your skin, as well as help apply foundation easier. I didn't notice a particular brightening or toning effect, but it worked so well at hydrating my face that it did help with smoother foundation application.

A BIT OF READING

I picked up this little magazine on a whim while I was at Barnes and Noble earlier this summer, and I'm so glad I did. If you follow me on Instagram, you've seen me post about it over there. The stories are short, inspiring, and the matching illustrations are beautifully drawn, taking advantage of all the space on the page. The colors and the simple art drew me to this little compilation of stories, as well as the 'adventure' theme because I live vicariously through other people's adventures.

FOUNDATION

The NARS product I was using on my face wasn't matching my skin quite correctly anymore, and my skin got drier after I moved back to Mukilteo, so I had to find a new cover-up for my face. I didn't want to commit to a pricey foundation since I'm darker during the summer, so I tried out the L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow. It makes your skin dewy, glowy, and it's really quite lightweight for a medium-coverage foundation. It's not so great for oily skin, but I'm stubborn and just blot throughout the day because the feel of this on my face is just so nice, and it doesn't dry my face out. I also gave a try to Maybelline's Master Primer, but I don't really know if it makes a difference when I put it on or not..

CHOCOLATE BARS

I researched this eyeshadow palette so much before I finally decided to buy it. It's a pretty neutral palette, and not particularly summery, but I love how versatile it is. It has matte and shimmery shades of brown and pinks and purples, which makes it perfect for brown eyes. I haven't tried anything crazy with it yet as I'm still trying to improve my eyeshadow game, but it's great for everyday wear.
