ABC CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

Oops, here's another food post involving chocolate chips! I was sick just a couple weeks ago and missed a project in my cooking class, so I had to make it up at home (best homework ever?). So I pulled out my mom's dusty notebook of tried-and-true recipes she's collected over the years.

Luckily for me, I found the chocolate-chip one quickly, and I was also able to find it online here. They're called ABC since they're simple to make and stand for "absolute best chewiest." So technically this isn't really a family recipe or anything I made up, and I take no credit for it whatsoever, but I did take photos of the baking process!

We needed:

3 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
1 1/4 teaspoons kosher salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
2 tablespoons dark corn syrup
1 tablespoon half-and-half cream
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
In my case, we accidentally melted the butter, and we only had organic soy milk instead of half-and-half. The bottoms ended up becoming slightly crispy (read: toasted/darker/burnt-ish), but I'm not exactly sure whether it's from the milk, butter, or the oven and it was definitely because Alex melted the butter. The recipe online calls for toasted walnuts, but my family was never a fan of those in chocolate-chip cookies, so we omitted them. But we proceeded with the recipe as the website follows.
