It's been a while since I've made a beauty post! But that doesn't mean that I haven't been trying anything new-- in fact, I think I've bought more makeup in the past few months than I do during the other months of the year. And after trying a bunch of new products for a while, I think I've settled on a new routine that provides the basics of my makeup routine. I started using most of these items during the spring, so if I can stick with a product for this long, then it must be a good one.
A GOOD BASE
My latest favorite foundation + concealer duo is the Smashbox Studio Skin 15 Hour Foundation and Tarte's Shape Tape Concealer. They both keep my face relatively matte throughout the day, and the foundation has just the right amount of coverage for me. I don't use it often during the summer (I wear minimal face makeup when it gets hot), but I know I'll be reaching for it when autumn rolls around.
The concealer, on the other hand, has the most coverage I've ever seen in any of the face products I've used before. The hype was real on YouTube around this product, and I understand why. The tiniest amount is more than enough, but that also means that accidentally over-applying can give you a cakey look.
HIGH BROWS
I've long since left my $3 ELF Eyebrow Kit for the fancier Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil, which I love because it's so easy to use. It's got a larger end, so it doesn't provide the most precise application (Benefit has another product for that), but it fills in my brows in a way that doesn't make them look crayon-y. I use it for the majority of my brow, but I turn to the ABH Brow Powder for the edges. It has a soft, natural finish, and the texture just glides on smoothly. With the ABH 7B Brush, you can get a really precise stroke, and you can layer the product to create various intensities.
I still tote around my ELF Kit for touch-ups on the go (in case I fall asleep and wipe away half my face on a desk somewhere), but I don't think I can ever stop using the brow powder. My application technique is far from perfect, and I still have a lot to learn when it comes to filling in my brows, but these two products just make it so much easier.
If you've tried any of the products above, I want to hear your experience!
